WHAT'S THE POINT?

This is worse than irrelevancy.

A UN General Assembly committee has voted to discourage U.N. human rights bodies from condemning any country on human rights, despite objections to the measure from the U.S. and many European countries.
This is what multilateralism with dictators and criminals gets us.

That is ridiculous!

In a court of law, there is a good reason the defendant isn't allowed to sit on his own jury. Apparantly that reason isn't so obvious to all.

Wow, I didn't think they'd ever be that blatant about it. I'm sorry to see the GA actually voting itself into oblivion, but then again, I guess it is what those countries want. It's too bad also that we (the US) have lost (understandably so) our ability to stand up and say this is absolutely ridiculous.

To be fair, I think Bolton did say that the resolution was ridiculous, but there's only so much one, or a few other, countries can do in this situation.

Its the problem of attempting to apply democratic principles at the UN when a significant number of the members have no interest in democracy.
