ON COAT HOOKS AND CANADA
As noted below, winter is upon us. Although it is only early December I have already had occassion to twice complain about the absence of available coat racks in public locations. Consequently, I re-publish my post from last winter on coat hooks and winter in Canada.

THIS ONE IS FOR THE TORONTO SUN
Reading the Toronto Sun headline was always a special form of entertainment for me. I was always excited to see what new depths of sensationalism they could sink to. I was particularly fond of their headlines screaming in moral outrage over whatever laxity of the Canadian justice system they had been able to unearth on any given day. It was especially good if they could use words that were not actually English.
Well just for the Toronto Sun comes a story of a convict who has not gotten to walk free/ easy parole/ a spa day/ etc. etc.
(Ed. Note: I'm not commenting on the justice of this decision in anyway, I'm just pointing out that our prisoners don't always get everything they want, which is the opinion the Sun often seems to portray).

LAST OF MY PROCASTINATION POSTS
It must be winter when Canadian bloggers start blogging about the weather.

Someone was recently reffered to this site by Googling "Matthew Fletcher" death.
Now, my name is fairly common, and there are all kinds of reasons this seach could have been made, but still, it's a little disconcerting to see in type.
Perhaps my lack of blogging this week was leading people to question if something tragic had occurred. Not to fear, it is only the temporary crush of term papers that gives the impression of my demise.
AMATEUR HOUR FOR THE STANLEY CUP
End of term projects continue apace, hence the total lack of blogging.
In other news, a couple of months ago Alan suggested that with the NHL locked out the Stanley Cup should be re-appropriated in accordance with its orginal design to be awarded to "the championship hockey club of the Dominion of Canada." Basically, any hockey team that believes it has a chance should be able to compete for it.
Apparently, a few guys in Edmonton thought the same thing, and are looking into whether it is possible or not.
I think it would be great if amateur, junior, and college teams challenged for the Stanley Cup.
